The Modern Diva

Who is today's "Modern Diva?"  BellevueGrl defines what being a fashionable lady of today is all about

I had a friend ask what being a "Diva" meant recently, after thinking carefully, I posted this reply:
A "Diva" is a strong,sexy,lady...she can be anyone,a mother,a career woman,a wife. She's not afraid to take on the world, but can still take the time to tie her little ones shoelaces. She's beautiful without being overdone, and knows that true beauty is the kind that comes from the inside.

I truly believe that beauty is an attitude, not an age and that you don't have to be a supermodel to be beautiful
Here's to the "Everyday Modern Diva"
Until next time~

"Just Browsing" Part I

Looking for an easy way to create the perfect brow? BellevueGrl has shopped the best and has found just the right kits for the job-

Finding the perfect brow look for you needn't be difficult. Brows today are natural with just a slight hint of an arch. the easiest kits combine both powder, brushes, tweezers and tools to keep your brows "ship-shape" and to give your eyes a well groomed look.

Gone are the days of the drawn on brow, the harsh pencils of the forties that screen legends once had . they have been replaced with a soft blended look.

I decided to look into the brands that would be easiest to work with and found a few that are both pretty and practical along with being the best bargain for your money.

Le Sourcil De Chanel - perfect brows compact is a neat little purse sized mirror compact with brush, brow groomer and tweezers along with 3 colors of brow powder all in the iconic black and white case 65.00

Sephora collection Arch It Brow Kit comes with a neat little zip around case and all the tools you'll need for the perfect eye look. stencils, brushes, color, tweezers, clear brow mascara and more .
This is a great buy at just 35.00 and compaired to some of the other more expensive kits out there contains basically the same tools you'll need for a more reasonable price.

Urban Decay has palm sized compact with mini tweezers, and two shades of brow powder to blend together for the perfect color,a hidden drawer holds wax to keep your brows pretty throughout the day and the price will make you smile $29 This one is going in my makeup bag.... The reason? there are four different compacts to choose from :

Honey Pot (blonde)

Gingersnap (auburn) *** Red Heads will love this

Beige Betty (medium ash brown)

Brown Sugar (dark brown)

Want to know where brows should start and end? Make a "V" with your fingers place next to your nose. It's that easy!

Keeping things "shape-worthy"

Until next time~

"Pretty In Pink"

Creating The Perfect Pink Pout
This spring the color of the moment ranges from cotton candy pinks to corals, apricots, tangerines, and fuchsia.
One of the best and easiest looks to achieve is the little pink gloss look. Team with a soft gray eyeshadow ,a little powder and soft pink or peach blush and you'll have a look that will take you through until summer.

My lips are naturally pink in color, so it didn't take much to give them a "pretty in pink' pout. I first primed my lips using Aveda Nourish-Mint Renewing Lip Treatment (15.00) then lined them using Aveda Nourish-Mint Lip Liner in Tarragona (12.00)
I then topped off the look by adding Aveda Nourish-Mint Sheer Mineral Lip Color in Sheer Filaree. This gives a soft pretty pink look with just a hint of shimmer. This lipstick plumps, smooths appearance of fine lines, increases moisture and refreshes with organic spearmint and vanilla flavor.(15.00)
For lasting shine and just a little "va-voom" I dabbed on a little bit of Aveda Lipshine with a lip brush in Juneberry (16.00)

Also check out Sephora brand Super Shimmer Lip Glosses for some other pretty in pink ideas. My makeup drawer has quite a few and they are the perfect size to toss into a purse or in a pocket. My faves are Bronzed Beauty (deep rose),Precious Pink (soft sheer baby pink),Rosy Glow (golden pink),and Think Pink (glittery hot pink) 10.00
Ready to blow some kisses with the perfect little pink pout.
Until next time~

"Where There's Smoke, There's Fire"

Achieving A Perfect Smokey Eyed Look -

Often the hottest looks in fashion magazines are almost impossible to re-create at home in your own bathroom. So, how do you go about creating a glamorous sizzle without looking like a flashback to the "Dancing Queen" days?

BellevueGrl is here to lend a few tips on how to get that gorgeous smokey eyed look without looking like you played in glitter all day.

The new shades are out,and yes, they do contain a fair amount of shimmer, but you can create a subtle glint of color without going back to the disco days of the 70's and 80's.

For my look,I chose Urban Decay Eye Shadows. The Stardust shades are beautiful, but just to show you that you can create a look without a harsh hand, I chose shades from the Show Pony Shadow Box. I first lined my eyes with 24/7 eyeliner in Mildew a deep green. Then, I used a damp brush to apply just a hint of shimmer all the way to the brow bone using Polyester Bride. The trick of using a damp brush is that you get better control of your shadow and the glitter stays where you want it too,not on your cheek or under your eyes.

On lids,I used Snatch (again, from the Show Pony Box) this is a soft slightly glittery peach. I then went over my green liner and slightly above it and edging outward with Smog.this is a beautiful matte deep green shade. I also used it to slightly rim my bottom lashes.

I then tipped just the corner of my lashes with Flipside mascara, which is a beautiful matching teal green.

To finish, I then lightly dusted just a hint of loose mineral powder over my eyes to set the look. The result was a beautiful deep smokey eye, without the pots of glitter look.

Be the "Sparkle" in someone else's eye!

Until next time~
